Featured in Modern Luxury Miami, “Home in the Sky” showcases the thoughtful reimagining of a spectacular 10,500-square-foot penthouse in Highland Beach by Fava Design Group. Led by renowned South Florida interior designer Joseph Fava, the project offered a unique full-circle opportunity: nearly two decades earlier, the residence had been one of Fava’s first published interior design projects. When new owners acquired the furnished penthouse, they turned to Fava once again to create a home that reflected their personal style, art collection, and lifestyle.
The expansive residence combines the scale and sophistication of a luxury estate with the convenience of condominium living. Designed for owners who travel frequently but still value elegant entertaining, the penthouse includes formal and informal living spaces, a library, dining areas, bars, a theater and theater lobby, family room, yoga room, guest suites, a dramatic floor-to-ceiling aquarium, and expansive terraces overlooking the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway.
Fava Design Group's approach centered on refining rather than completely reinventing the architecture. Traditional elements from the home's original design—including gold leaf, ornate details and frescolike ceilings—were carefully edited to create a more contemporary and understated environment. A sophisticated palette of soft grays, steel blues and creamy neutrals provides a serene backdrop for the owners' impressive art collection, while luxurious materials, velvet upholstery, silk wallcoverings, crystal chandeliers, mirrored finishes and select patterns add warmth and visual interest.
